Insecticide use on cotton crops in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa has fallen considerably, since the 1980s, largely thanks to the development of control methods centring on pest observations. Researchers from CIRAD and their African counterparts have taken stock of the dissemination of such methods, their impact on the quantities of pesticides used, and also of their advantages and constraints.
