The Intergovernmental science policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) held its first plenary meeting in Bonn at the end of January. We look back at the history of the platform and its recent creation with Didier Babin, a CIRAD researcher who is currently Senior Programme Officer of the "Biodiversity for Development" programme at the Secretariat of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in Montreal.
