July 26, 2013 at 04:49PM Michel Eddi, CIRAD President Managing Director, meets African agricultural research leaders

IN PICTURES. For the first time as CIRAD President Managing Director, Michel Eddi went to sub-Saharan Africa recently to meet the organization's partners. The trip took in Benin, where Michel Eddi met staff from the Institut national de la recherche agronomique du Bénin (INRAB), Abomey Calavi University, the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and the AfricaRice Center. These partners, on a national and international level, are members of a research and teaching platform, Divecosys (Diversité des systèmes de production et gestion agroécologique des bio-agresseurs en Afrique de l'Ouest), instigated by CIRAD. During his trip, Michel Eddi also took part in the 6th Africa Agriculture Science Week organized by the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) from 15 to 20 July 2013 in Accra, Ghana. Accompanied by Etienne Hainzelin, his adviser, and Philippe Petithuguenin, Deputy Director General in charge of Research and Strategy, Michel Eddi met six Directors General of national agricultural research centres working with CIRAD. He also took part in a side event on the partnership initiative between Europe and Africa, IntensAfrica, led by CIRAD and the University of Wageningen.
