In Mayotte, tomatoes are primarily grown in the open, with extremely variable yields. Pest and disease attacks are the main reason for this variability, but crop management also plays a role, as both pruning and deshooting are practised. A team from CIRAD conducted a survey of market gardeners on the island and came up with ways of improving yields.
