April 01, 2014 at 01:57PM The genome of a palm trypanosomatid has just been sequenced

Collaboration on an ANR project between the CEA Génoscope team led by Patrick Wincker, that led by Michel Dollet at CIRAD, and European and American laboratories recently enabled the sequencing of the genomes of a trypanosomatid (parasite) that causes sudden wilt of coconut and oil palms in Latin America and the southern Caribbean, and of a non-pathogenic euphorbia trypanosomatid found in southern France. An article was published in the journal PLOS Genetics in February 2014.
