FDA scientists are working on an unprecedented project. They are studying adult mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), which are cells that can turn into a variety of cell types and tissues including those that form fat, cartilage and bone. MSC-based products have the potential to be used for cellular repair, restoration, replacement and regeneration if approved by FDA.
