CIRAD has developed a new collaborative tool for plant identification and knowledge sharing: Wikwio. This platform focuses on weed flora, in other words volunteer plants that compete with crops. The tool is aimed at helping farmers to improve their knowledge of these weeds in order to better manage them and to prevent yield losses. More than 400 weed species from the South-West Indian Ocean and Southern Africa are currently listed.
