Hundreds of millions of pigs in China could soon come up against the terrible disease African swine fever (ASF). In an attempt to avert such a catastrophe, or at least limit its impact, researchers from CIRAD, the RVC (UK) and the FAO, and their partners in China, have studied the factors behind the emergence of ASF and the probable ways in which it spreads. The conclusion is that the only possible solution is an integrated approach, involving each and every stakeholder in the supply chain.
