ADM Animal Nutrition, a division of Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM), is recalling 200-pound tubs of Mintrate® 36-15 Breed Right Tub cattle feed, product number 54549AAA6H, because the product may contain elevated levels of non-protein nitrogen, which could be harmful to cattle. Excessive levels of non-protein nitrogen can be toxic to cattle and can cause muscle tremors (especially of face and ears), abdominal pain, bloat, frothy salivation, excessive urination, teeth grinding, incoordination, weakness, shortness of breath and possible death.

Debating and consultation forums are opening up to them. Women are making themselves heard and sharing their expertise. A look back at the session "Hidden hunger: produce more or empower more?" organized by CIRAD on 5 June, at this year's European Development Days.

After rinderpest, it is peste des petits ruminants that the OIE, FAO and European Union want to eradicate by 2030. This highly contagious disease is currently found in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and was recently detected in Bulgarie , on the border with Turkey. An article published in the journal PNAS on 23 July suggests a model that serves to prioritize zones for vaccination. This is a welcome alternative to mass vaccination campaigns, which are both costly and highly complex to implement.

Après la peste bovine, c’est celle des petits ruminants que l’OIE, la FAO et l’Union européenne souhaitent éradiquer d’ici 2030. Actuellement présente en Afrique, en Asie et au Moyen-Orient, cette maladie très contagieuse a récemment été détectée en Bulgarie à la frontière turque. Une publication parue le 23 juillet dans la revue PNAS propose un modèle permettant de prioriser les zones à vacciner. Ces résultats constituent une alternative providentielle aux campagnes massives de vaccination qui sont à la fois coûteuses et très compliquées à mettre en œuvre.

Lipari Foods, LLC has issued a voluntary recall of Premo Brand and Fresh Grab turkey and Swiss submarine sandwiches produced and packaged by sister company JLM due to potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
