April 23, 2020 at 03:42PM Rural migration in sub-Saharan Africa: Patterns, drivers and relation to structural transformation

Sub-Saharan Africa has a long history of internal and international migratory movements. Those movements vary substantially across regions, and have evolved considerably over time. This working paper, which examines the dynamics and drivers of migration south of the Sahara, is a companion to the atlas "Rural Africa in motion. Dynamics and drivers of migration South of the Sahara". It is the result of a partnership between CIRAD and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and was prepared by CIRAD in collaboration with the Centre for the Study of Governance Innovation (GovInn), South Africa, with financial support from FAO and CIRAD.
