A recent T20* policy brief drafted by a group of experts including CIRAD's Ward Anseeuw and Jérémy Bourgoin, flags up the continuing lack of transparency in international agricultural land investment projects, despite previous warnings. It calls on the G20 to include human rights principles in global value chains and to commit to more transparency. This should include the mandatory release of information for projects that receive public support, while also encouraging private companies to release relevant information. Making such data openly available will enable stakeholders to hold investors accountable.
