Collective action on the part of producers can play a vital role in food product quality. Its efficacy was studied recently with respect to market gardeners in the Hanoi region, Vietnam, by researchers from CIRAD, INRA and their partners. Their conclusions confirm those of previous work: the technical training given to members by producers' associations plays a determining role in ensuring food sanitary quality.
