Most current models are predicting that climate change will have little impact on the carbon storage capacity of tropical forests. However, new results obtained by researchers from CIRAD contradict these optimistic forecasts. They are published in the Journal of Ecology, and reveal that by favouring smaller tree species, climate change could on the contrary alter the carbon sink role played by tropical forest ecosystems.
