Global climate change could impact on earthworm communities worldwide, threatening the many functions they provide. This is one of the results of the first operation to map earthworm populations on a global scale, published in Science on 25 October. The work* involved 140 researchers worldwide, including a specialist from CIRAD, who compiled the largest ever dataset on earthworms, covering almost 7000 sites in 57 countries.
